The Holiday Provision Steering Group is formed of over 30 local organisations, individuals and groups committed to tackling food poverty for Southampton families during the school holidays.
You can follow its dedicated Twitter page here.
Led and facilitated by City Catering, and funded through a VIVID grant administered by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation, the group launched in late 2019. Southampton and the local area currently has a number of organisations, individuals and initiatives geared towards tackling the issue of food poverty - with a particular focus on those families and children who go hungry during the school holidays. It's an issue that's widely been referred to as 'holiday hunger' in the media and with 35% of Southampton's children's living in poverty, working in partnership is essential.
